Release addresses the struggles men encounter from different angles, revealing a deep sense of exploration. For instance, there’s Tony – a teenage boy who suffers from identity issues due to not knowing his father. Tommy, another featured character, is an extremely successful college graduate who deals with the challenges of pleasing his mother. These and the other stories portrayed in "Release" contribute to enlightenment of the thought process of young men and as a result, garners understanding and appreciation for them.

Byrd also starred as Lt. John R. Fox in the award nominated TV special, "Honor Deferred,” produced by Al Roker and Samuel L. Jackson, which premiered on the History Channel. He also wrote, produced, and starred in the award winning film, "The "Last Dayz," Featured in Vibe.com, King Magazine, and the Daily News, and he starred as Cameron Johnson/Cover Model in the best-selling Novel, "Things in Between" by Nathaniel Portis.

Kevin Byrd is an extraordinary young African American Male living in the 21st Century. At the very tender age of 9, he begins his acting career in Utica, New York. That is important, but what is more extraordinary is the fact that he has been tied to two civic causes when today’s youth are more worried and obsessed with materialism.

Kevin Byrd has been an advocate for Prostate Cancer Awareness since the age of 24. His unique way of raising awareness is to perform before his audiences, and raise awareness to a great cause at the same time through public forums, active promotion at his one man show “Release” and raising funds through his store which sales merchandise to support the BrownByrd Prostate Cancer Foundation, literature distribution at intermission, and talking about what can be done to save lives through early detection and screening.

About Prostate Cancer:

Prostate cancer forms in the tissues of the prostate. Except for skin cancer, cancer of the prostate is the most common malignancy in American men. It is estimated that 218,890 men in the United States will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007

In most men with prostate cancer, the disease grows very slowly. The majority of men with low-grade, early prostate cancer (which means that cancer cells have been found only in the prostate gland) live a long time after their diagnosis. Even without treatment, many of these men will not die of the prostate cancer, but rather will live with it until they eventually die of some other, unrelated cause. Nevertheless, it is estimated that nearly 27,000 men will die from prostate cancer in 2007

An important risk factor is age; more than 70 percent of men diagnosed with this disease are over the age of 65. African American men have a substantially higher risk of prostate cancer than white men, including Hispanic men. Dramatic differences in the incidence of prostate cancer are also seen in different populations around the world.

There is some evidence that dietary factors are involved, such as vitamin E and selenium, which may have a protective effect. Genetic factors also appear to play a role, particularly for families in which the diagnosis is made in men under age 60. The risk of prostate cancer rises with the number of close relatives who have the disease.

New York, NY – Brown Byrd Productions presents "Release" A One Man Show Starring Kevin Byrd and hosted by BET Comic View's Ardie Fuqua on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at "The Players Theatre" located at 115 MacDougal Street, New York, NY 10012. Doors open at 7:00 pm and Showtime begins at 7:30 pm.

For many young men, family, friends and self identity issues arise as early as junior high school. Even though some people do not identify with these problems, if you think you don’t know someone displaying one of the following six dilemmas...think again. Witness it's the lives of 6 some personalities... and the lives of 6 men in the age ranges of 18-60 years old from different walks of life in a one man, one night only. Show is produced by Marc Meir and Kevin Byrd written by:Kevin Byrd and Jason Hendricks– Released.

This show is designed to give young men a look into the lives of five young men like Tony – a teenage boy who suffers from identity issues due to not knowing his father. Tommy, another featured character, is a extremely successful college graduate that deals with problems of pleasing his mother. These and the other stories contribute to the though process, education and understanding of all young men.
